Job Title: Family Engagement Program Specialist

Salary Range:  $20,000 (.5 FTE with intention to increase to 1 FTE with medical, dental, and vision benefits)

Team Wellness and Prevention is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles through the prevention of substance use.

Position Description

The Family Engagement Program Specialist is responsible for convening, coordinating, and managing TEAM Wellness and Prevention’s Engaging Families Implementation Team. The Implementation Team is a group of school personnel, other community organization professionals, and community members who facilitate parent and youth learning opportunities that support families in their endeavor to promote social and emotional health and well-being in their youth. The Family Engagement Program Specialist is responsible for interfacing with schools and other community-based organizations to promote the Engagement Families Initiative, schedule program series, make facility arrangements for each session, and coordinate staffing for each series. The Family Engagement Program Specialist is also responsible for supporting the organization in developing the infrastructure to be the community’s Clearing House for family engagement opportunities.  The Family Engagement Program Specialist reports directly to the Program Director.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Colorado Prevention Specialist Certification OR obtained within two years of hire
  • Certified BrainWise Trainer OR obtained within one year of hire
  • Certified Strengthening Families Trainer OR obtained within one year of hire
  • Work experience in programs relevant to substance abuse prevention preferred
  • 1 – 3 years experience in facilitating community based processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication and public speaking skills
  • Commitment to Team Wellness & Prevention’s mission and quality programming
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and social media
  • Maturity and professionalism in interpersonal relationships
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured vehicle
  • Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds

Job Responsibilities

Trainer of Trainers/Implementation Team Coordinator

  • If not already trained in BrainWise Curriculum, obtain instructor training within first three months
  • Obtain instructor training in other, yet-to-be determined evidence-based curricula, as determined by the needs and interests of local schools and community groups
  • Train Implementation Team members to facilitate parent and youth learning offerings
  • On-going outreach and recruitment of Implementation Team members
  • Provide materials to Implementation Team members for facilitation of program series
  • Convene Implementation Team regularly
  • Develop Training calendar for Implementation Team

Coordinator of Learning Opportunities

  • Outreach to local schools and community organizations to raise awareness about parent and youth education offerings
  • Coordinate facility arrangements for program sessions (access to facilities, meals, childcare, etc.)
  • Schedule Implementation Team members to facilitate parent and youth learning offerings, on an on-going basis
  • Maintain electronic records for all program-related materials (timelines, contacts, etc.)
  • Regular updates to Team Wellness and Prevention Programs and Events Google calendar
  • Work with content experts to develop menu of single-speaking engagements on topics of interest for parent and youth audiences, as appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise and develop protocols to mitigate future issues

Program Evaluation Activities

  • Adhere to program evaluation protocols
  • Attend first and last program session to administer program evaluation

Program Management

  • Participate in program work group sessions, as appropriate
  • Maintain electronic calendar of all work-related activities
  • Adhere to work plan timeline and tasks
  • Adhere to program budget
  • Complete monthly reporting for time and effort and program process activities
  • Meet with Program Director on on-going basis
